Another few days have snuck(sneaked?) past me and for once I dont mind. I used to say I loved babies, now I can categorically say I most certainly do not!
So Monday was OK. Abi's exam was 'easy' - her words. Only one left to do now and she'll be done. We are thinking it might be in March if we can swing it but if not it'll be June. She has her Kingston Maurwood interview next Wednesday which we are all rather nervous about. She is organising certificates and school-work related stuff to show them. DH was off work for the occasion (and the fact that she needed to be at the exam by 8.30 am) but having him home was lovely. In the evening I had a bit of a showdown with one of Abi's tutors after she told Abi that level 3 course was like being hit in the face with a shovel and they didn't think she could do the work. That may be so (not saying it is, but it was one of the interview questions we had) but she should have phrased it better, or better still spoke to me directly and NOT passed the message via a 15yr old ASD child. All resolved now though.
Tuesday we were meant to have a friend visit only she pulled out at the last second, grrrr, so we went to clinic in the morning then just hung out at home in the afternoon. Abi had her eye appointment in the evening and we nipped into town whilst she was there.
Wednesday was a pretty rough day with Lucas. Its literally one speed bump after another with his latest being refusing to eat. *Sigh* Seb and I walked to cell group as I was in desperate need of fellowship and some happy faces. It was a 20 min walk there and then the same to come back. J has magic hands and Lucas slept most of the time we were there and all the way home. In the afternoon the kids had dentist appointments so whilst DH did that I nipped to the bank to get Abis documents varified so we could open her new account. We swung past the sorting office to pick up parcels we'd missed in the morning then home for a late tea.
Thursday morning Lucas persisted in his crying so Seb and I went into town for a while. We got home around 12, ate lunch then headed out again as we like to evacuate when the cleaners come. This time we went to Ham Hill and walked for a couple of hours or so. Hopefully the kids should all sleep well tonight. (yeah right!)
I wouldn't judge Kingston Maurward by any other college's standards, Carol. Having looked at it for Madam, they are the most switched-on and KIND place re ASD I have come across (including special schools.) They see her as a person which is unprecedented in the school system. They even told us not to do a course and suggested a cheaper alternative elsewhere because they knew it wasn't right for Madam.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for fighting Abi's corner, and for getting out while Lucas was exercising his lungs. (By now, he must have good strong ones.)
