Car-less and Crazy

This week has been completely crazy and I've barely stopped to catch my breath. With no car to get us places I've had to stay in, walk or catch buses. Its been a learning curve to say the least. When I lived in Devon I went out and walked every single day, and in Lincoln too. Here its trickier as getting to town takes 25 mins with little people and the bus for Seb, Em and Me is £8.35. Eeek! I do walk to the HE group and the baby weigh-in which is not so far and gets me out a couple times a week but other than that I haven't ventured far.

I went to the weigh-in clinic this week to see how much Lucas weighed. I know it doesn't matter but I like to know. He is just off 18lbs so has done what they are 'meant' to do and doubled his birth weight by 6mths.
He is loving his food so I cant say Im surprised. However I did make a big mistake which has set us back somewhat. I added a small amount of milk (a cup of tea) to my diet with no negative effects, and then offered him a small amount(a teaspoonful of organic yoghurt), again with no obvious negative effects so I went whole hog and we both consumed dairy as normal. Just 3 days later he was screaming, gassy, sick, bunged up and refusing food. His Excema has flared up too, and more has appeared. It was the most horrendous three days I've had in a while.
There is another tooth brewing next to his first which I suspect is causing some misery as it breaks through and with this and the slow recovery from milk he is now off his food and wont put a spoon in his mouth - not good when a week ago he was almost feeding himself. He is managing the whole baby-led weaning thing though but it means he is hungrier all over again because far far less is going in.
Mmmmm, broccoli and parsnip.
Still no more news on our car either which is annoying. We wrote the letter (as per T.S advice) and his last day is tomorrow. Then its on to the next step, whatever that is. Tomorrow looks like a busy day and I still haven't had time to complete the other posts I have in draft, but Im too tired now.

  1. Good luck with the car, and bus fares are just daft, aren't they? Whenever I bemoan our tiny garden and cramped house I remind myself that we are also in the heart of town with shops, choice of park, swimming pool and hospitals in an easy walk. I know you can't have it all, but it doesn't stop me wanting it!

  2. Sorry to hear about your car, hope it all gets sorted out and you get your money back. Can't believe how expensive the bus fare is, mind you its been about 3 yrs since I had to take a bus.

Lucas looks like he's enjoying that dinner. I did baby led weaning with Gabs and she loved it.

  3. I miss having a car to get to some places. Rural branch line trains are a nightmare so we never go very far very often. At least I am in a similar boat to Anne in that most things like shops, swimming pool and park are within walking distance. I hope it all gets sorted out asap.
