Highs an Lows at Hotel Stanbury

This week has been a week of bunking down and doing very little.
Lucas had his shots on Monday after lots of umming and ahhhing over whether we should or not. The recommendation is that you shouldn't if your child is ill or snuffly however Lucas has been ill and snuffly since Christmas and I really couldn't keep putting it off. So after consulting with my health visitor I decided just to go for it. DH kindly came with me to do the pinning down so that Lucas wouldn't hate me all day and because of his age he was eligible to have his 2nd and 3rd round of shots swapped because the third round is usually worse and so better done whilst he was younger. So we went in and Lucas cried during the shots (Three of the damn things!!) but was quick to recover and was fine for the rest of the day.
Tuesday and Wednesday weren't that interesting. S came to do some bits and took Lucas for me so that I could work with Seb. Lucas still hasn't been sleeping so both days I fell asleep feeding Lucas and S let herself out. DH finished early on both days - I think he is concerned that Im bordering psycho again, but lack of sleep will do that to you!!
Thursday started out as a flat nothing kind of day and I was resigned to doing very little other than school work. However L rang and invited the girls to visit and I decided to call a friend who lived near them to see if we could call in on them for a cuppa. So I dropped the girls off at 11.30 and stayed for a cup of tea, then Seb Lucas and I went on to see R and her children. She kindly fed us lunch and we had a lovely hour there. From there we decided to call in to see S who teaches the girls music. So we spent some time there then headed back home. Nathan came and went and S collected Seb and took him to gym. Graham was home when I got back so he took Lucas whilst I made curry for dinner. L put the girls on the train home and DH met them from the station at 7 then it was bedtime - thank goodness at that point as Lucas took his first proper bite on my nipple and I was NOT impressed.
Friday was hard. I think at this point I had reached my sleep deprivation limit so was completely vague. Seb and I did Tesco first thing so that I could pick up food for lunch. We dashed back and tidied up ready for the cleaners to come then went to HEY. HEY was exceptionally good this week with a lovely Tudor day. A couple of ladies came and bought some Tudor instruments and they put on music and dancing as well as some
cooking too. The girls loved it and Seb even sat in on some of it. I spent it walking with Lucas. He loves to kick footballs around it turns out, so I spent ages in the large hall doing that whilst I held his hands(ouch, my back!). Then I fed him lunch and  finally he crashed out and slept(after 6 hours awake!!!!) He only managed 20 minutes though then it was back to him wanting to walk again. I spent a little time whining to J about the sleeping/feeding issues which helped me feel better then decided it was time to go home. At home I surrounded Lucas by toys then he promptly amazed me by pulling himself to standing then several times let go and standing by himself. He definitely seems out of order with stuff; kicking footballs before he can walk, standing before he can get to sitting position unaided. Something my friend A said made me wonder about his personality though as he is quite contrary when it come to feeding and frustrated the rest of the time. Some people would tell me to get a grip at this point but I am looking at a 7mth old who is intelligent enough to attempt to put his stacking rings on in the right order and who is frustrated and bored unless his is kept busy and active, and I do wonder whether there are potential hyperactivity/ASD/sensory issues to come. When I look at my other children, their traits were there from the start and gave very clear clues to their future issues that had I noted might have stopped me being quite so surprised. Anyway, we''ll see.
So today DH took pity on me and woke when Lucas did so that I could get an extra couple of hours sleep. It was much appreciated as although Lucas had a marginally better night, I have a head cold (sore throat, head ache, tender head, urgh!) so am feeling slightly delicate. DH was home all day today so after a lazy morning and homemade soup for lunch we went for a drive over to Cerne Abbas where DH is doing some work.
The weather has been warm and sunny which I love, it makes for a lovely time out. We did a quick tea and then had a lazy evening.
Tomorrow DH has promised me another lie-in, maybe I'll make it to church and then we are mowing the lawn if the weather is right, in preparation for Sebs basketball net which is waiting in the wings in my Amazon basket.
